League 1: DeC Rebels and Legends remain unbeaten (Week 5)

The DeC Rebels and the Legends now remain as the only unbeaten teams in League 1, following defeat for Inn at the Park at the hands of ATSSC. The Dec Rebels and Legends recorded comfortable victories over the Dare Devils and Caledonian respectively. There was also victory for St Ronald against the Knightriders. Aberdeen University unfortunately were not able to field a team against Apache Gordonians and scratched.

The Legends remain unbeaten after humping Caledonian by 10 wickets at Allan Park stadium. Caledonian batted first and were reduced to 26 AO, with D. Anderson (3 for 1) and  C Hinchcliff (3 for 4) amongst the wickets. In reply, the Legends easily reached 29-0, with batting contributions from N McHattie (15 no) and S Milne (12 no).

Inn at the Park managed to contain ATSSC to 115-7 from 20 overs, with  Masud (3-0-15-1), Adeel  (3-0-17-1) and Andy C (3-0-15-1) the pick of the bowlers for the Park. The ATSSC innings was interrupted for a short while as an old granny pushing a pram, accompanied by a toddler dressed all in pink, shuffled across the pitch via long leg and deep backward point. In reply, the Park were off to a flying start, with Sajid (35 no) helping the Park reach 64-0 in the 8th over. The first wicket fell in the 11th over, with only a further 40 runs required. However a collapse of biblical proportions and a fighting display from ATSSC resulted in the Park falling short by 10 runs on 105 AO.

The Dare Devils met the Dec Rebels on DP1 in a good natured match played in the best spirit of the AECL. The Dare Devils batted first and set the DeC Rebels a target of 128 for 7 in 20 overs. Top batsmen for the Dare Devils were Gokul (25 out) and Indi (24). Pick of the bowlers for the Rebels were Rahul (2 for 13) and Vignesh (2 for 25). However a strong batting performance by the Rebels on the night (Kapil, Vignesh and Debo all retiring at 30) resulted in a comfortable 9 wicket victory, finishing their innings on 130-1.

The Knightriders batted first against St Ronald at DP3, but were reduced to 96 AO. Pick of the bowlers for St Ronald was Eddie (4 for 14). In reply, St Ronald reached 97-5 to record a 5 wicket victory, with Rehaan (31 no) top scoring with the bat.
